Currently Being Re-Designed
Come back soon for some exciting changes
Welcome to Lenscraft Photography. Over the course of the last two years we have received a number of requests to see whether or not we would reinstate additional services. It just so happens that as 2018 concludes it coincides with our planning to give this attention. So we are now in the process of re-instituting some services and updating others. The photographic world has undergone a number of changes as it matures in many areas. Even the last five years have seen a major rethink as far as manufacturers and users are concerned. At the time of writing the photographic industry has been seriously looking at mirrorless cameras from the likes of Nikon and Canon who have made an excellent entry into the industry despite having a considerable range of alternatives. While Sony have more cameras in the mirrorless category, many consumers have been using converters so as to use lenses from Nikon and Canon and these converters are not always as reliable as some reviews might suggest. Having tested some of the new lenses that go with the new mirrorless bodies we are very impressed. The revolution in thinking is underway. Exciting times lie ahead and as we re-instate a number of services here we look forward to being a part of it.
Keeping it Real
You don't have to look far to see images that have been grossly edited to the point where the colours are completely unrealistic. Social media platforms show both ends of the spectrum from images quickly taken on a mobile phone through to images that have clearly been edited for some time. While there is nothing wrong with editing in itself and there are often benefits in some aspects of editing, when the image loses its integrity completely because of the introduction of colours that simply were not there or the removal of natural features that are integral to the image, the image has now stepped out of the realm of photography and becomes something else. In a sense, it becomes a piece of art, something which gives you a sense of the subject instead of a photograph which can achieve both reality and give you insight into a situation/location/person at the same time. In this website we focus on keeping it real. We look at what can actually be achieved in camera and what was actually there and the actual results. This in no way limits the quality of the images because high quality images can easily be achieved in camera.
Manipulation may be used to hide poor photographic technique such as turning images into black-and-white photographs simply because of poor sensitivity choices during the photographic session. In themselves black-and-white photographs are amazing and may reveal incredible texture and so may be taken as a result of choice but on the other hand manipulation may be used as stated above to hide poor technique. Composition plus an understanding of lighting, an understanding of backgrounds & consideration of the effect of colour, are the factors that contribute to effective photographs. We hope to demonstrate this on this website in addition to introducing and explaining various features of a whole range of equipment.
